The scratch competition held over 2 days and 36 holes identifies Flempton’s Champion Golfer Of The Year.
After day and round 1 Robbie Beecroft held a 1 shot lead and took a slim advantage into the second day after an opening 74, with both Harvey Finbow and James Hurst posting a brace of 75’s.
As the final 18 unfolded it became a two-horse race between Beecroft & Hurst with scores level with just 3 holes of the 36 to play.
James “The Shire” Hurst, took the lead with a fine birdie 3 on the 16th and the lead was extended to 2 shots on the 17th. James “The Shire” Hurst held his nerve despite finding a green-side bunker from the tee playing the last to claim the Briggs Challenge Cup by 2 shots and bragging rights to call himself the club champion golfer for the next calendar year!
